Throughout the world, grapes lead the list of the most chemically "treated” i.e. sprayed fruits with chemical fertilizers, fumigants, fungicides herbicides, insecticides and other substances. Our conscious choice to grow and harvest organic grapes for wine, comes from our belief to fully enjoy food and wine without compromising one’s health or overall wellness. Our objective is to balance nature, the long-term health of the soil, the vines, the environment and ultimately those who enjoy Villa Gabriella wines.

Referencing the healthy traditions of original organic viticulture, the vineyards are an ecosystem jewel. They are an excellent example of Mother Nature's innate biodiversity of checks and balances. Cover crops, bugs, bees, birds, bats all coexist to monitor the vineyards well being, controlling insects and weeds while helping maintain the proper balance of their populations so the vines can thrive.
Our philosophy comes from a dedicated commitment to freshness of flavors and the pureness of fruit in each phase of the process, while our wines benefit from ideal climate, location and soil, organic cultivation practices and production. Our commitment is consistent from the vine to the finished bottled product, we cultivate our own vineyard and do not use grapes from a random 3rd party. This means keeping close to the vine in a very intimate manner, the fruits are carefully monitored, nourished and nurtured each day for a healthy balance in the soil, assuring the overall "well being" of the vines for high quality grapes and wonderful tasting wines.
Our viticulture ensures healthy vineyards for pure, quality fruit. We forego chemicals in favor of natural techniques starting with a common-sense approach, using composts, natural fertilizers and substances (fava beans, cow pies & sheep dung) in permitted, measured quantities. As the harvest becomes closer, individual rows are inspected daily to maximize the flavor of the fruit. Our harvests are 100% completed by hand in small lots to preserve the integrity of the skins and quickly to achieve peak ripeness.
The organic process continues in the cellars where only approved organic viniculture methods are applied, we do not use additives or stabilizers. The only exception are for sulfites (anidride solforosa), necessary for wines to keep for any length of time along with those that are naturally produced by the yeasts during fermentation. During the bottling process, (sulfites) are added to maintain the wine's stability over a period of time and climatic changes, facilitating global shipments from Italy. The legal limit for anidride soloforosa in organic wines is 100 milligrams per liter, at Gabriella a maximum of 30-50 milligrams are used per liter.
We submit to regular ICEA & MIPAAF auditing inspections to ensure all of our practices meet The Italian National Organic Program standards. Tests and certifications are conducted before, during and after bottling guaranteeing organic authenticity and integrity. Both entities have reciprocity with the U.S. National Organic Program (NOP). Villa Gabriella wines reflect the uniqueness of each harvest together with our vineyard's fresh and pure expression of the fruit to produce vibrant wines with the distinct terroir unique to Tuscany.
Villa Gabriella organic wines do not interfere with the body’s natural digestive process, do not cause headaches or morning after dullness. While higher antioxidant levels and Reservatrol assist in maintaining healthy blood vessels and reducing “bad" cholesterol.
